Taking A Long-shot
Saint Patrick's Athletic v Shelbourne
Pats have failed to score in their last four league outings, and are watching their league campaign slip away from them. Moral must be pretty low at Inchicore and the last visitors they wanted to see tonight must be Shels - who's will doubtless be in love-in mode in celebration of Pat Fenlon's committment to the cause.
Shels are still missing Owen Heary and Jason Byrne, but they have ample cover and you can't help but get the impression that four snowmen in the backfour could keep the misfiring Saints goalless. Shels to take the points.
3/1 Pats
9/4 Draw
4/5 Shels
Cork City v Bohemians
Drawing a simplistic recent formline through Sligo Rovers suggests this should be a handy enough win for Cork. Bohs lost out 1-0 at the Showgrounds last weekend, while Cork won 3-0 at the same venue a few days after. With John O'Flynn and Joe Gamble now back in the Cork team, they will be readying themselves for an assault on the title. Bohs have little to play for, and no manager to impress, I expect them to be dismissed without too much fuss.
4/6 Cork
12/5 Draw
7/2 Bohs
Waterford United v UCD
UCD have been blighted by injuries for this game according to newspaper reports. They are missing six regulars as they take on a resurgent Waterford side. The Blues are without the inspirational Alan Reynolds but they should still have enough to take maximum points here and make it three wins on the bounce.
5/4 Waterford
9/4 Draw
7/4 UCD
Bray Wanderers v Longford Town
Bray are a forlorn outfit. Having been trounced 3-0 by Waterford last weekend, they now looked doomed to prop up the table for the rest of the season. Injuries and suspension troubles add to Bray's woes and present goal shy Longford with an excellent opportunity to add three points to their thus far disappointing tally. Robbie Martin is welcomed back to the Longford frontline to assist in this task. Longford look the bet of the weekend. I won't be lumping on, but a reasonable single is in order.
2/1 Bray
2/1 Draw
5/4 Longford
